VFC Sells Supreme For $1.5B And Adidas Rings The Register

VF Corp. has sold Supreme to Milan-based eyewear company Essilor Luxottica for $1.5B. The Denver-based house of brands purchased the company in 2020 for $2.1 B. Supreme brought in revenues of $523.1M in 2023 a decline from from $561.5M the year prior. With the addition of locations in Seoul and Shanghai, VF Corp. has said the store has since returned to positive revenue growth without providing further details.
The sale of Supreme comes as no surprise with WWD reporting ($) VF Corp was shopping the brand back in May. As well, in its most recent earnings call, the company implied it would be shedding some weight to relieve debt before the year end. As I wrote here back in May, the only question remaining was who would be willing to lay out the cash given the difficult economic environment.
