Thank you! I think the clothing across the board--whether made by a luxury label or an active brand--is more low key and able to be worn in conservative settings vs. streetwear, which is often defined by statement prints and anti-establishment statements, which are controversial by nature. I'm less sure about branding, but just looking at runways and campaigns, we've seen a return to very thin, mostly white models. I haven't researched the topic, but gut feeling it seems use of rappers and their music on runways, as influencers and in campaigns has also declined.
Loved this! Thanks for the link. I too am very excited to see some more high fashion x indie running collabs. Also a note from the streets - in Vienna for a trip and the Adidas EVO is by far the footwear of choice for the runners I spot. Backyard for the brand, but saw something similar in NYC too
Thank you for the feedback! Because I'm less familiar with the "feel" of the running brands, I felt like I was reaching a bit on my collab guesses. Given this is your expertise, are there there any pairings you think make more sense? Very interesting on the Adidas EVO in Vienna. It's such a nice marriage of design and function. I don't even run and I own a pair!
I like Miu Miu x Bandit, though the NB connection could rule it out. Khaite x Bandit feels right with the high end minimalism and NYC roots. I love the idea of SOAR with a Ahluwahlia for the color and British connection. Location feels relevant with running just because the sport is so connected to place.
Oooh, good point about Miu Miu and NB! Ahluwahlia is new on my radar, gonna go explore as soon as I hit send. And yes, I agree location is everything in running, something that's mirrored in streetwear culture which celebrates local communities.
Thanks for the shout Lois! Love seeing Reddit pop up too :P
The EVO SL is the moment right now
You do great work, enjoy your content and writing style!
I loved this! Wondering if you've been seeing this conservative shift in branding as well as the objects being sold themselves
