LVMH has announced Nigo as the lead creative director for Kenzo. He will be the first Japanese-born designer to lead the label since founder Takada Kenzo (who died from COVID-19 last year) stepped down in 1999. There’s been some talk this appointment made have been engineered by Virgil Abloh. They not only run in the same circles, but Abloh engineering the move would be in line with LVMH describing his role when it purchased Off-White as extended across multiple platforms.
The CFDA has revealed Dapper Dan as the recipient of its Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. He’s the first Black designer to receive the award and also the first to have done so without staging a runway show.
The menswear designer of the year nominees are the most interesting and they are as follows: Emily Adams Bode for Bode; Jerry Lorenzo for Fear of God; Mike Amiri for Amiri; Telfar Clemens for Telfar and Thom Browne.
