Indie Sleaze As A Symptom Of The Over-Simplification of Trend Analysis And The Demise Of City Centered Marketing

I realize I’m the latest in a long line of pubs to write about the indie sleaze concept, but I want to say a couple of things that haven’t been addressed, which start with taking trend analysis of a single subculture too far and ending with the folly of global city-centered marketing in a post COVID world.
First, if you’re nor familiar, the entire discussion as far as I can tell was birthed by an Instagram account called @indiesleaze. First launched in January 2021, the account defines indie sleaze as “a reference to the decadence of mid-late aughts and the indie sleaze party scene that died in 2012.” If you’re too lazy to read all the articles, Substack 8Ball 001’s podcast analyzed the concept in depth and with a fair amount of nuance as well.
