Berlin-based HighSnobiety is exploring a sale to Bustle Digital Group. There’s no price tag on the deal at the moment but it received $8.5 million in finding from private equity firm Felix Capital in 2018, so more than that. According to WWD, the site reportedly brought in $60 million in revenue this year. That seems like a lot given Hypebeast banked banked $88.68 million in its most recent fiscal year, but okay.
This news hits a little harder for me because I was the founding editor for HighSnobette, which was once a part of HS. I give HS founder David Fischer credit for everything he built, which was really a labor of love for many years. There were some bumpy moments for sure, but at the time, everyone was flying by the seat of their pants creating an entirely new eco-system from the ground up, which would go on to be massively influential.
