Ye and Gap provide New York-based fans with a nice surprise with the opening of a Yeezy pop-up store located inside the chain’s flagship Times Square location. Though I assumed there would be mayhem, the crowd appeared orderly. With giant bins of clothing that included Yeezy’s collab with Balenciaga, some viewed the store as akin to a swap meet.
The pop up store followed news that Ye had filed a patent for a retail concept called YZYSPLY; at the same time, he let it be know he had a conversation with Gap chairman and interim CEO Bob L. Martin. The discussion included his perfect hoodie, which Ye claims racked up $18M in sales. Ye wants an in-person meeting with Martin, perhaps to discuss going halves on a permanent retail concept?
